Ferritin
Ferritin is an intracellular iron-binding protein that stores iron and releases it in a controlled fashion. The determination of ferritin, usually in conjunction with other iron tests, is useful to evaluate iron levels in the body.
It is also used in oncology for the management of patients with acute myeloblastic leukemia, malignant lymphomas, renal cell carcinoma to detect recurrence of disease in follow up care.
