25-OH Vitamin D
Vitamin D is a lipid soluble vitamin that acts as a hormone. It stimulates intestinal calcium absorption and is important in maintaining of adequate phosphate levels for bone mineralization, bone growth, and remodelling. No longer is vitamin D regarded only as the vitamin that prevents rickets in children. It’s also believed to be involved in the regulation of cell growth proliferation and apoptosis, as well as modulation of the immune system and other functions.
