Measurement of thyroglobulin autoantibodies is an aid to the diagnosis of certain thyroid disorders, such as Hashimoto's disease (chronic lymphocytic thyroitis), non-toxic goitre (enlargement of the thyroid gland), Graves's disease (enlargement of the thyroid gland with protrusion of the eye balls), and primary myxedema. In thyroid cancer, it is used to verify the reliability of thyroglobulin test results.
