Inhibin A

Inhibins are polypeptides belonging to the transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β) superfamily which also includes TGF-β, activins and AMH (Anti-Müllerian hormone). All members of this family play a role in the growth and differentiation of tissues. Measurement of Inhibin A is intended to be used, in conjunction with other screening markers (hCG, AFP, uE3), in risk assessment of Down syndrome (trisomy 21) in the 2nd trimester of pregnancy.
